ICD Mental Health

I am trying to verify exactly what V71.09 means - or get more specific meaning behind the description. I show two different definitions:

  • V71.09 No Diagnosis on Axis II
V71.09 No Diagnosis or Condition on Axis I

  • Thank you.

V71.09 is a billable medical code and can be used to specify a diagnosis on a reimbursement claim.
V71 states that it is the "observation and evaluation for suspected conditions not found" and the .09 version of it mentions "other suspected medical condition"

Oh yes Regina, you are right. I am sorry. It was a typing mistake out there..

I see Haward Backmanh's reply. I disagree. V71 and V71.09 are for mental condition, not medical.
Yes - you are correct - Alisha answered this question on our live Q/A on Thursday night -. The answer was exactly what I needed - Thank You Alisha!!

For anyone who missed the February 2014 Q&A Webinar where Alicia went over this topic, you can Join the CCO Club and receive the recording, transcript, answer sheets, and if you need CEUs, receive a CEU when you successfully complete the 10 question quiz. Look for the topic "Mental Health" in the February 2014 transcript and learn about the all 5 Axis types, and listen to the recording. Interesting!

Usually, it takes 10- 14 days for the latest webinar items to be available, but when you join you get access to all the previous months, too.
